Welcome to Siem Reap City!
Siem Reap is the city of the temples which is located in the southwest part of Cambodia. The city site is just about 3km from north to south and about 8 to 10 km from east to west. You may spend between 2 to 5 days to visit the temples. But it's not mean this city you can see only temples but still have some other places that you can see as well.
Of course, beside the temples, if you would like to get to know more about Cambodian life style without going away from Siem Reap city to another town or provinces, you can do a tour to countryside to see friendly people in the rural area, get to know more about their daily life and you will know different from you and them.
Be a responsible tourist by going with a tour that at the same time help the community of poor family.
Tips
- Be aware of hand out cash, gifts or even candy while you visiting the village. Providing gifts cause problems within the village and jealousy among families especially begging culture.
- Ask for permission before you take picture of people and show them after you take it, they are really happy to see their picture.
- Take your hat off if you are about entering pagoda or Buddhist monastery.
